It’s rare to meet a mother who doesn’t need a night out, and last Friday’s Boston Moms Blog night out was a particular treat: Most of us were meeting each other for the first time! Oh sure, we compliment each other’s ideas and collaborate on articles, but that’s all online; we all work and write and parent on our own time.

Central Bistro in downtown Boston put together a beautiful evening for us, treating us to wine and a selection of some of the chef’s favorite appetizers, and from our beautiful room overlooking Summer Street we were finally able to mingle and get to know each other. We pretty much devoured the food as soon as it came out of the kitchen (and you KNOW moms aren’t shy about eating with their fingers — we got pretty grabby). The staff was upbeat, so friendly, and delighted to treat us to a fun night. When planning our event, the most consistent question we heard was, “How can we help?”

Check out their dinner and cocktail menus — in true bistro style they offer everything from small bites to full meals, or whatever you’re in the mood for. After filling up on gorgeous little plates of things, I thought I wouldn’t have enough room for a whole dinner, but I’m pretty sure I ate most of someone else’s flatbread, so live and learn (it was the fig and goat cheese and arugula and PROSCIUTTO — I couldn’t help it). This is definitely going to be the spot I now take my friends from out of town for a great night out.

We also want to thank our partners and friends at Boston Public Market, JP Licks, Hanna Andersson, and Boston Children’s Museum for contributing to goody bags full of things for parents and kids to share together! It was a very Bostonian haul, and one I plan to take advantage of immediately and gratefully!

Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events with Boston Moms Blog in and around the city! And definitely keep an eye on your flatbread.
