Gymboree

gym_pm_stack_logo_pms144U (1)Why do you think families choose to come to your venue season after season and year and year?

Young children learn best when they are playing and having fun. We take the lead of the child, allowing them to learn and grow within our programs at their own pace. Over the 19 years that I’ve been involved with the brand, I have seen so many families either stay consistently enrolled with one child after another, or return with younger siblings so that the parents can share the joy of learning through play with all of their children.

What events or offerings to do you have planned unique to this fall?

We have our full array of classes, along with special Storytime Open Gyms, Halloween parties and participating in Jump Starts’ “Read for the Record” campaign in October.

Why do you think families with young children and older children keep coming back to your venue?  We are known for being child-centered, friendly, developmentally appropriate for little ones and clean!

What sets you apart from other (museums/play spaces/art spaces) like yours?

Our classes are designed to focus on what your child is doing developmentally right now, and grow with your child as they reach new milestones. And having the parent or other important adult in the child’s life actively involved in the classes enhances the experience and learning for the child.

What can parents do at home to enrich their family’s experience at your venue?

Relax, have fun and be as present during your child’s class as possible.  We are a respite from the daily routine…a time to put your phone away and completely immerse yourself in the wonder of helping your child learn and grow.

What would you like families to know before visiting location(s) to make their visits even better?

Dress comfortably, leave your inhibitions at the door and be ready to experience the wonders of early childhood!

Plaster Fun Time

Plaster Fun TIme LogoWhy do you think families choose to come to your venue season after season and year and year?

We think it is our focus and customer service. Unlike other places that do a much broader selection of activities, we have stayed focused on being Plaster Fun Time. We provide great materials and a fun environment for kids to be creative and for families to create wonderful memories together. We are especially proud of the positive family interaction we see every day — away from tablets and electronics, it is amazing what can happen.

Our team is dedicated to customer focus and service — being involved enough to help create a great experience but removed enough to let personal creativity take over. We think this is our balance of being small and local while having the experience to know what works.

What events or offerings do you have planned unique to this fall?

Due to popular demand, we are offering adult paint nights on the last Thursday of the month at some locations. Parents (and other adults) love Plaster Fun Time and want to come and have fun — without the kids! We have seen dates of all kinds, and many girls’ night out gatherings. It’s fun, inexpensive, and without the pressure of having to follow a class or timeline. Check our Facebook page or call your local store for details.

Why do you think families with young children and older children keep coming back to your venue?

We think it is our focus and customer service. Unlike other places which do a much broader selection of activities, we have stayed focused on being Plaster Fun Time. We provide great materials and a fun environment for kids to be creative and for Families to create wonderful memories together. We are especially proud of the positive family interaction we see every day – away from tablets and electronics it is amazing what can happen.  Our team is dedicated to customer focus and service – being involved enough to help create a great experience but removed enough to let personal creativity take over. We are a great environment for kids of all ages because of the variety and complexity of pieces we have. It allows people with all levels and background in art to engage completely and avoid beginners from being overwhelmed and expert artists from being bored.

What sets you apart from other (museums/play spaces/art spaces) like yours?

We think we are different because everything we do is focused on creating a great creative experience for family members of all ages.  Some ‘material’ differences we are proud to supply all our own proprietary pieces (all manufactured right here in Massachusetts), provide an unlimited supply custom formulated paints and supplies as well and only offer top-of-the-line artist brushes (also all 100% USA made).  One key philosophical difference is that we are NOT art teachers! While we have lots of tricks and tips we are happy to share, we believe the fun is in the creative process. “Where kids to it their way” is not just our tagline, it is one of our guiding principles.  Unlike other ‘art studios’, we are designed for family members of all ages. Spills are expected, cleanup is included, there are no sitting fees and your visit timeline is up to you (or bring your piece back later to any Plaster Fun Time store – free of charge)!

What can parents do at home to enrich their family’s experience at your venue?

Planning for a visit: Dress accordingly for the kids (and parents) to have a messy, creative, fun experience! Our paint is designed to be extremely forgiving to young painters, which means it stains and is extremely difficult to remove.

We find that the best trips are when the Kids get to take the lead in their creative experience. Let the creative process of the little (and big) artists take over!

Boston Children's Museum

boston children's museum logoWhy do you think families choose to come to your venue season after season and year and year?

Boston Children’s Museum is recognized as one of the leading children’s museums in the world. In 2013 it received the highest award given to

Museums and libraries nationwide, the National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The Museum experience reflects a commitment to hands-on, child-centered play and learning, using active play as a tool to spark the inherent creativity, curiosity and imagination of children. Over 20 Museum exhibits and everyday programs focus on science, art, music, performing arts, culture, and health and fitness. Families enjoy the Museum because of its opportunities for joyful discovery, and because it is an environment where children are exposed to experiences that cannot be found in front of a computer, watching television, or in the classroom.

What events or offerings to do you have planned unique to this fall?

The Museum strives to be “everyday amazing” and has over 20 exhibits, and numerous daily and weekly programs, including Science Saturday, live KidStage performances, Music and Movement events, Messy Mondays, Art Studio activities, and the last Friday evening of every month Kid Jam!, a monthly family dance party with live DJ. Every Friday evening is $1 Target Friday Night.  Of special note is that Einstein’s Workshop STEM classes and workshops will now be available in the Museum every Sunday. Four week classes include: Stop-Motion Animation & Video Editing (Grades 2–4)
3D Design & Printing (Grades 3–5), LEGO Robotics and Programming with WeDo 2.0 (Grades 1–3), and Scratch Programming (Grades 2–5). One-hour Workshops include: ScratchJr (Grades K-1), Parent & Me– Lego WeDo (Grades K-1), Virtual Space Mission with KerbalEDU (Grades 3-5), Scratch Programming (Grades 2-5), and 3D Printing (Grades 3-5). To learn more about these opportunities and to register visit www.einsteinsworkshop.com/BCM.

What sets you apart from other (museums/play spaces/art spaces) like yours?

Several things set Boston Children’s Museum apart. First, it is child centered environment focused on engaging children in active play and discovery using all their senses. Second, the Museum’s 88,000 square feet on three floors offers New England visitors more exhibit space and activities for young families to explore. Finally, the Museum is not just about fun, rather it links fun with learning. Every exhibit and activity is meant to spark the inherent creativity, imagination, and potential of a child, and strengthen important 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Very important is that the Museum also offers programs for visitors with special needs. The Morningstar Access program allows familes with special needs to enjoy the Museum at special quiet times.

What can parents do at home to enrich their family’s experience at your venue?

Parents and guardians play a critical role in their child’s development. Sharing in the child’s exploration of the exhibits allows parents to learn about their child and see those things that their child likes to do. By encouraging their children to explore, create, build, climb, share, and imagine, they are preparing their child to be successful learners and fostering their cognitive development and emotional and physical wellbeing.

What would you like families to know before visiting location(s) to make their visits even better?

Visitors should visit our website at www.BostonChildrensMuseum.org to plan their visit and see what will be happening at the Museum that they can take advantage of that day.

What events or offerings to do you have planned unique to this fall?

If you’d like to build a foundation of fun and fitness for your kids (ages 5-10), enroll them in SkyFit 4 Kids! The 6 week program includes variety of fun games as well as fitness activities to get us excited about being active. If you’re looking for ways to tire out your tot (ages 4 & under), we recommend our Toddler Time. We reserve our courts for parents and kids to jump, and many of our locations also offer themed jumps, where toddlers can dress in their favorite costumes.

Why do you think families with young children and older children keep coming back to your venue?

We offer a lot of options for families who enjoy active fun at any age, while ensuring that all families fly safe by separating jumpers in different age groups.SkySlam allows  kids of all ages to show off their dunking skills & Ultimate Dodgeball gets pretty competitive! Some of our locations also offer all-ages GLOW nights, where jumpers get to bounce and dance under black lights, to music from our in-house DJ. What sets you apart from other (museums/play spaces/art spaces) like yours?

Our commitment to health and safety sets Sky Zone apart from other trampoline parks. We have dedicated court monitors on duty at all times to help our jumpers have the most fun, while staying safe.

What can parents do at home to enrich their family’s experience at your venue?

This expedites the in-person check-in process once, and it stays on record for a full year so coming back is super easy! Keeping your jumpers hydrated before and after jumping is also important, as is removing any jewelry, hats, and electronics before jumping.

What would you like families to know before visiting location(s) to make their visits even better?

Families are often surprised to learn that we separate jumpers by age for safety purposes. Our age groups are as follows: Group A: Ages 0-4 (Toddler Zone Only) ; Group B: Ages 5-10; Group C: Ages 11-15; Group D: Ages 16+If your jumpers fall into separate categories, we recommend inviting friends who can jump with them, or  visiting the SkySlam and the Foam Pit (open to kids of all ages).

Goldfish Swim School

goldfish swim school logoWhy do you think families choose to come to your venue season after season and year and year?

Goldfish Swim School offers families something unique in the area – a  swim lesson program that is solely focused on building the confidence of each swimmer in the water. With our 90 degree pool for shiver-free swim lessons and small class sizes (4:1 student to teacher ratio), kids get the attention they need to learn an important life skill – how to be safe in and around the water!

What events or offerings to do you have planned unique to this fall?

Not only do we offer perpetual swim lessons for children ages 4 months to 12 years old, we also offer open swim times each week where families can come splash around together and enjoy the tropics of Goldfish Swim School! Check out your nearest Goldfish Swim School location for open swim days/times.

What sets you apart from other (museums/play spaces/art spaces) like yours?

When you’re in the water for a long time, you don’t want to be shivering and forcing yourself to stay in, right? And cold water means kids aren’t comfy, either. Well, no worries about purple lips here! The water in the pools at all of the Goldfish Swim School locations is always a warm 90 degrees! And since we know how chilly it can be getting out of the water (especially in the winter), our air temp is always set at a balmy 90 degrees, too! We also feel that it’s extremely important that kids not only learn the swim strokes, but the building blocks that will sustain their skills. This is something that we focus on through our specialized curriculum as well as our small class sizes (4:1 swimmer to teacher ratio). We also offer perpetual swim lessons (no sessions) so you are able to sign up whenever it works best for you. And, something every parent loves is to see is a smiling, confident swimmer after their lessons with us – which is our number one goal!

What can parents do at home to enrich their family’s experience at your venue?

Not at a pool? No problem! Having a strong stroke is important in making effective forward movements in the water. While standing up, practice making windmill motions: starting with the right arm, have your little swimmer swing it straight back, then straight up pressed up against his or her ear, then extended straight out in front to pull it down back to the starting position. Then repeat on the left side. For younger kids, be sure those fingers are together and ready to “cup” the water. You can also practice effective kicks in the water by having your swimmer lie down on the ground and kick without bending his or her knees! Lastly, have fun in the bath with your little ones who might be afraid of going underwater by having them pour water on their own head.

What would you like families to know before visiting location(s) to make their visits even better?

We are committed to building confident swimmers through our specialized curriculum. We can’t wait for you to come check out our facilities in Braintree, Burlington, Needham and Westford!
