Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and we have some fun ideas for celebrating the special day for moms right here in Boston.
Duckling Day
Sunday, May 14
10 a.m.
Join Boston-area families during the annual Duckling Day event! Duckling Day has been a tradition for more than 30 years, celebrating the children’s classic book, “Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey. Dress up your kids as characters from the story to parade through Boston Common and the Public Garden (near the famous “Make Way for Ducklings” statues). There is also a playtime on the Common event prior to the parade which features family entertainment including crafts, face painters, and a magician. This seems like a perfect opportunity to surprise mom with a delicious picnic lunch!
Lilac Sunday
Sunday, May 14
10 a.m to 3 p.m.
Everyone loves the beautiful aroma of fresh flowers in spring, so head over with mom to the Arnold Arboretum for its beloved annual celebration of the lilac on Lilac Sunday. The day includes tours of the lilacs and other special collections, plus family activities and various food vendors.
Fenway Park
Friday, May 12, at 7:10 p.m.
Saturday, May 13, at 7:10 p.m.
Sunday, May 14, at 1:35 p.m.
Got a Sox fan for a mom? Or, want to treat yourself to a game over Mother’s Day weekend? Check out the schedule online to search for tickets — the Sox are playing at home on Mother’s Day weekend. Taking in a springtime game at Fenway is a great mom’s day memory for the books.
Get touristy
We live in a city with so many great options for site-seeing, so why not take advantage this Mother’s Day? Treat mom to a spin on Boston’s famous Swan Boats, or indulge her sweet tooth with a Boston Chocolate Tour through Back Bay, the South End, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.
Hit the theater
Take your mom to dinner and a show in Boston’s theater district. Check what’s playing Mother’s Day weekend on the Boston Theater website.
