When it comes to shopping, I’ve always valued quality over quantity. In fact, I’m notorious for buying the same piece in multiple colors if I come across a well-made classic that I know will last. The concept of a capsule wardrobe is very appealing to me, though it’s not something I’ve been able to go all in on. A capsule wardrobe for travel, though? A few solid pieces go so far, and it’s the perfect situation to experience the capsule wardrobe phenomenon.
As I was planning for an anniversary trip to Paris, the perfect pieces for a capsule wardrobe came my way. I wanted comfortable and well-made pieces that were also stylish and would help me look and feel great. Enter Trish and Peach, the Waltham-based company with a mission to be a force for good for women and to help women “elevate their everyday.” Peach uses top-of-the line athletic fabrics to create sophisticated pieces that are comfortable, contemporary, and versatile. Everything Peach makes is so well done, with an attention to detail and fit that makes their pieces perfect for day-to-day and for more special occasions. Peach also provides you with a stylist (and Trish is THE BEST) to make for a much more personal experience. Trish helped me figure out what was right for me, including sizing and exactly what pieces I needed. She also had tons of ideas for countless ways to mix and match the pieces to get the most out of them.
Packing a capsule wardrobe was not easy for me (I’m known for packing everything when I travel). Thankfully, my Peach pieces were ideal for the sophisticated Parisian streets. I stuck with basics in black, white, and grey and threw in a little blue for color. Easy, chic, and versatile!
After years (seriously, YEARS) of breastfeeding, I am entirely done with underwire bras. Over it. I love the idea of bralettes but never thought I could find something that was both sexy and supportive. When my friend raved about the eyelash lace bralette, I had to give it a shot. The best part is I forgot I was even wearing it during a long and surprisingly comfortable day of being a tourist. I felt sexy and relaxed and can’t believe how beautiful a bra this is. I love that it can be converted to a racerback and still maintain its comfort. As moms, there’s no excuse for wearing yucky old lingerie, especially when you can get a beautiful, supportive bra at a decent price point!
The second I saw these leggings on the Peach website, I had to have them. I’ve been trying to shake the mom-in-leggings look, but I just can’t give it up. So I realized I had to upgrade beyond plain black. I have only worn these casually, and I love that the front panel has a look that is almost like leather. They are surprisingly warm and maintained their shape (read: no saggy butt) all day long. These leggings are compression so are a size-up piece, but they can we worn with pretty much anything! In addition to being perfect for long plane rides and days of touring, these have also proven to be great for getting on the floor and playing with the kids. I also love the high waisted panel, because mom life.
*Note: Size up with these leggings. They have a good amount of compression, but once you get them on you hardly notice them!
In my attempts to not dress like such a mom, I’ve been exploring dresses. The Sylvie dress has POCKETS (a plus for any dress) and can be worn two different ways. I’ve worn this with both the Nina legging and with a pair of tights and was comfortable for a full 18-hour day. I love the 3/4 sleeve and how the dress hugs my curves, but it also has some flow! This is a dress-up or a dress-down piece, making it even more versatile!
*Note: This is a size-down piece, which made me feel good about myself!
An essential component of a capsule wardrobe is a good layering piece. Actually, layering pieces are one of the main components of my wardrobe. The Sophie cardigan is crazy soft. It’s made of French terry and is flattering with jeans or the Nina legging. It was also the perfect piece for travel. It’s cozy, but classy looking, and runs true to size. Bonus? Thumb holes!
Want to see Peach for yourself? There is a pop-up at 211 Newbury Street through the end of the month. Head on in and say, “Hi,” and be sure to mention Trish or Boston Moms Blog!
The new holiday look book was just released and it’s TO DIE FOR! That hat! That dress! Perfect for Paris (or any day, for that matter).
